Summary
Over the course of this semester, you have been introduced to various aspects of professional and technical communication. You have also performed several activities to reinforce your learning.
Assignment
Your assignment is to write a memorandum to your instructor, reflecting on what you have learned. Your memo should apply English mechanics and the standard memo style and design principles that you have learned this semester. It should be a minimum of one page (but no more than one and a quarter pages), single spaced. Your memo should synthesize some of the major topics we covered during the course. You may also want to address the parts that you found easiest to learn and those that you found more challenging. Additionally, you may wish to address how well you feel you did in meeting the class objectives or where you feel you may have fallen short.
In addition to your memo, it is important that you learn from earlier assignments by revising them. Therefore, you should submit revised and final versions of the following documents:
- Cover letter
- Resume
Think of this exercise as a final editing of the documents you submitted earlier. Your graders and I will be looking at them with fresh eyes. Your revisions should be professional and error-free.
Place your memo and your revised final version documents of your cover letter and your resume in one MS Word file. (Do not submit multiple files or you will receive a five-point deduction for failing to follow instructions.) Begin each assignment on a new page. Your reflection memo should come first, followed in order by your cover letter and your resume.
