Aphra Kerr

Dr. Aphra Kerr is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at Maynooth University in Ireland. She has been researching the games industry and play cultures since 2000 and is the author of two books on games: Global Games: Production, Circulation and Policy in the Networked Era, Routledge, 2017, The Business and Culture of Digital Games: gamework /gameplay, Sage, 2006. She is associate editor of The International Encyclopedia of Digital Communication and Society, Wiley-Blackwell, 2015.

She has previously worked as a lecturer and researcher at universities in the Netherlands, the UK and the US. In 2011 she was an invited scholar at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in the US. In 2016 she was elected chair of the Communication Policy & Technology section of the International Association for Media and Communications Research (IAMCR).
